My favourite time of the year is finally here! Ramadan begins this weekend and we have been doing all it takes to welcome it. Growing up, in a non Muslim country, you didn’t really get to see much excitement outside of your home.
The supermarkets would put on a Ramadan sale for groceries but that would be just about it. But times have changed now, Ramadan and Eid decor are readily available now, fun and interactive Islamic kids learning is becoming more of a thing.

Previously, the focus was solely on adults and children (of fasting age). However, now parents are getting their children as young as 2 involved too, trying to get them into the Ramadan spirit.
Of course, some complain that Ramadan and Eids are now becoming more commercialised. But I say, isn’t that a good thing? Being able to make it fun and exciting, having everything readily available and being able to involve others who may not know about Ramadan too! I think it’s a great way to educate and raise awareness.
So without further ado, lets see what we have for this years Ramadan Basket.
PRAYER MAT

Aazeen is more and more interesting in copying the adults and likes to join me whilst I pray. But what annoys her is that her current prayer mats are too small for her now. So I decided to get her new one that is bigger.
I immediately fell in love with this one I saw on Anafiya Gifts. It’s by the amazing Quote Lovin’ and I cannot praise it enough. It’s padded, so if you have flooring that wouldn’t be a problem. Made from a gorgeous soft velvet material – the quality is just commendable.
APRON

Children love to help out in the kitchen don’t they. If you read my previous post, one of the activities I suggested was getting the kids to help with Iftaar (breaking of the fast meal at sunset). So, when I saw this apron by The Lettered Inkling, I really could not resist!
ARABIC ALPHABET PLATE

Ever since I have started making Ramadan Baskets, it’s a well known fact that it will include a Lila and Tiny plate! They’re of such great quality (tried and tested by us for 3 years now!) I didn’t go for the complete set as we have two sets already but got the plate. A great way to encourage Aazeen to keep note of the alphabet.
SUNNAH SALAD BOWL

Lila and Tiny have recently launched their wooden toy range and you bet I had to get one, didn’t I? My heart was set on this Sunnah Salad Bowl which comes with a plate, bowl with fruits and veg.
What’s the purpose of this toy? Sunnah means the way of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) what he use to do and like. Lila and Tiny have included the fruits and veg that were his favourites. Such a beautiful way to incorporate learning with play.
LUNCHBOX

Another Lila and Tiny creation – you can tell we are fans, right? I got this a while ago but for some reason never had the chance to give it to her. This will be great to have out and about, for snacks and lunch for her. I love the size of it and how easily it can fit into your bag.
OMAR AND HANA ACTIVITY BOOK

Activity books are the perfect way to keep the kids engaged and learning at the same time. I decided to go for the Omar and Hana activity book this year as they are the characters she loves and recognises. There’s an activity for everyday for the children to do, I think we’ll benefit from this greatly especially during the school holidays whilst I’m working.
ARABIC PLAY DOUGH SET

As parents, we have a love hate relationship with playdough, don’t we? But there’s no denying that it is the perfect entertainment that can keep the little ones busy for quite some time. As Aazeen has learnt the Arabic alphabet, I thought this set was perfect, it comes with play dough and Arabic alphabet cutters. Best of all, I love the storage tub! This is by Desi Doll Company and you can find them in Morrisons too.
CRAFTS

You can never go wrong with crafts! It’s the most favourite activity for children. I recently came across Hayaat.eu on Instagram and fell in love with the bundles she had to offer. Ramadan decor that the children can help to decorate!
BOOKS

We already have an amazing collection of Islamic and Ramadan books for children. However, there’s no harm in getting more, right?
Ramadan in Space (Aff link)
I have had my eye on this book for several months but it had sold out. I’m so glad to finally being able to have it. If you’ve been following us for a while you will know that my 5 year old is Space obsessed so this just seemed like the perfect combination!
Ramadan Rocket (Aff link)
This is a last minute purchase of the week. I came across this author on Instagram and instantly knew I wanted this.
30 Bedtime Stories (Aff link)
This was an unplanned purchase. I was looking for something else on Amazon and randomly came across this. It has 30 stories for every night of Ramadan, making bedtimes even more special. I must add, there are no pictures but I don’t think that’s an issue as it’s targeted at various ages.
This is something that I know we will benefit from years to come. A gratitude journal for the children, each day has a prompt from as simple as going out and finding a flower to as simple as listing what you are thankful for today.
COLOURING

You can’t go wrong with colouring! A while back on Instagram I saw a reel by the lovely Amani from The Playful Fawn on how to create a wipeable and reusable colouring mat for children so I made one too. This is the perfect dinner table activity whilst they wait to eat.
30 DAYS 30 DEEDS

Another lovely small business find!
Last year, I wrote down activities I wanted my daughter to do everyday. However, this year I decided to get these 30 Days 30 Deeds cards. These are great little activities perfect and simple for children to do that do not require too much hard work.
How will we use them?
These cards will be used as part of our advent calendar. Everyday, I will encourage my daughter to take out a card, once she’s completed the activity she can move onto her second calendar and get a treat!
So, that’s it folks!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Even though, this was about Ramadan Baskets, I do hope it was helpful in giving you ideas for children celebrating other festivals too.
