The month of February, filled with lots of love, fun and never ending laughter… sounds about right, doesn’t it? Not! Yes it was a wonderful month due to A turning five. However, we all know how stressful and manic a birthday month can get! Trying to make sure everything is sorted on time and perfect for your little ones.
So what were the five things I loved about this month?
February Half term

The one thing other than A’s birthday I was looking forward to was of course having a break from work and the school runs! The half term week couldn’t have come quick enough. I use to be so stingy in using my annual leave but the past year I have been making a conscious effort in trying to get as much days off possible in the school holidays.
I can see a real difference in both my mindset as well as A’s behaviour. Being able to spend more quality time with each other has become more essential since the changes in our family.
We didn’t have major plans or adventures during this week. However, not having the pressure to get everything done at a certain time was bliss.
Sleepover at the cousins
We went to have a little sleepover at the Cousins and it was just what we needed. Our original plans of venturing out were cancelled due to Storm Eunice in the U.K. but we didn’t let that dampen our moods.
Sometimes just having a change of scenery can do wonders and it was great to see A play and spend time with her cousins.
Birthday

February is the most famous for the month that we welcomed A into our lives. On 24th February, my little squishy baby girl turned five years old.
I feel like turning five is such a huge milestone as it’s literally half a decade. A’s birthday fell on a Thursday, which meant she went to school. Birthdays in schools were so much fun as far as I can remember mine. A also had a lovely time according to her teacher as they did a little celebration in the class.
I surprised A with a few presents in the morning before she went to school and brought her a balloon at pick up time which made her day.
We ended the day with her main present (I decided to give the rest at the party so she isn’t too overwhelmed) and cutting a cake.
The party

The following Saturday, we held A’s birthday party. Due to the pandemic, the last big birthday celebration A had was for her 3rd birthday just before the pandemic hit. Last year we were in lockdown so only celebrated with our support bubble.
So this year was definitely going to be extra special. We had a Numberblocks theme as requested by A. We had everything that a little girl on her birthday could ask for, from face painting to pass the parcel to sparklers in the garden, she was so happy.
It was amazing to see everyone finally together. If the pandemic has taught us one thing it is how important just being able to see and spend time with your loved ones is.
MAKE UP ROUTINE

I only wear make up on special occasions like weddings or parties. Partly because I honestly can’t be bothered to make the effort every morning and partly because my skin doesn’t agree with anything! No matter what I tried I would never be able to get smooth finish thanks to my sensitive dry skin.
However, when needed I now use the Hydra Matte Pore Correct velvet cream. After cleansing with the Skard organic face wash and moisturising my face, I apply a good amount of layer of this. Hand on heart, it has made such a huge difference. No more make up flaking off and helps to settle the foundation well too. I am not an expert with make up products as you probably can tell. But I would definitely recommend using this as your base layer if your skins struggles with make up like mine did.

Aw this is such a lovely post! It sounds like A had an amazing birthday and party, I remember birthdays at school being so much fun at that age too. I’ll have to try out the Hydra Matte Pore Correct velvet cream as well! Thank you so much for sharing x
Thank you for reading! Definitely recommend that cream if your skin doesn’t agree with other products like mine x
Loving that the face wash is organic and does a good job of cleansing! Your follow-up cream also sounds spectacular; I am always looking for something my sensitive skin will agree with and both your finds sound worth trying.
A’s birthday sounds like it made up for the past year and more! What a colorful celebration to be sure. 🙂
Thank you for reading! I’ve always had trouble finding the right products for my skin it’s such a relief to be able to find one at last!
It sounds like you had a great month! It is also my birthday month! I use to wear make up a lot but I use less now and barely wear it. I love the look of that face wash – the packaging is beautiful. I hope March is already going well for you. Have a great rest of March making memories!

It sounds like you had a busy month with your daughter’s birthday, but it’s nice you could make it special for her.
Also, I’ll have to check out the Figs & Rouge cream! I only wear makeup when I have class & on the weekends if I’m going out, but I recently ran out of my primer & the cream seems like it would be a good base.
