January was really a mix bag because it was exciting filled with fun yet also still when I had been recovering from my illness – are you already tired of hearing about sickness because honestly I am sick of being sick! It honestly has been a horrible winter when it comes to illnesses.
But when you have kids sometimes you just have to forget you’re ill. I guess, in a way, that’s a good thing as some of the time trying to be normal actually helps to make you feel better.
Anyways, let’s focus on the positives of January now shall we?
HEY DUGGEE LIVE

Miss A got to experience her first theatre experience. Ever since seeing the Hey Duggee Live posters at the South Bank Centre in December Miss had been requesting to see it.
We had originally planned to go in the Xmas holidays but due to sickness we couldn’t. So I’m really glad we managed to make it on the last day! We had such a great time and Miss A was completely mesmerised.
SPELLING CHAMPION

One Friday after school Miss A was upset, they had a spelling test in school but the teacher said she didn’t give enough points to get a certificate hence the sadness.
However, Miss A was adamant she got enough marks. We went back so she could speak to the teacher as I knew this would bother her all weekend. She voiced her opinion to the teacher and the teacher decided to look at A’s workbook again thinking if A could see for herself then she might be okay…. turned out Miss A was right and her teacher marked hers incorrectly! Miss A was so happy to finally receive her certificate.
I was so proud that she stuck up for herself!
BROTHERS BIRTHDAY

Miss A took front seat in planning her Uncle’s birthday. One of the most special people in our lives.
He’s stepped up for us in so many ways in the past couple of years. From doing the school runs to participating in parent/carer races on sports day. From always putting Miss A’s needs first to refilling my bottle of water by my bedside at 2am when I’ve been sick and making sure I’ve had lunch when working from home. And making it a priority that Miss A doesn’t miss out on anything.
The list is endless which I don’t think is actually listable. He’s ended up surprising us all.
We do fight like crazy, if you saw us you’d think that’s it we’re never talking to each other again. But a little bit later we’re spudding and back to normal like nothing’s happened.
Life has been a big rollercoaster ride for us lately but it’s really shown me who our loved ones are, who really care about us and I will always remember that.
GET WELL SOON CARD

This may seem like a small thing but it meant a lot me. In the current world where everything is pretty much digital receiving a physical card in the post from your friends especially when it’s unexpected is always such a lovely surprise.
INSET DAY

I always try to take advantage of Inset Days and have a day out with Miss A. This time round we visited the Science Museum which Miss A loved. After the museum we had lunch at Elan Cafe. Ever since celebrating my birthday there I knew I wanted to bring Miss A here and she absolutely adored the decor and of course the food!
After lunch we visited the Yayoi Kusama x Louis Vuitton exhibition opposite at Harrods.
Not just entertaining for the adults but children too. Miss A was mesmerised by all of the colourful dots and the gigantic Kusama outside. She did first ask me if we were going to meet Mr Tumble.

How was your January?

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been ill during this winter, and I hope you’re doing better now! It sounds like you had a busy January with the theatre, your brother’s birthday, and the science museum. That is sweet your friend sent you a get well soon card, and I hope the spring is treating you better!
