The end of 2022 was filled with sickness upon sickness hence taking quite some time away from the blog, more than what I had hoped but it is what it is I guess! So this is a joint Winter round up .
In November, Miss A became incredibly unwell with what we now believe could’ve been Scarlett Fever, luckily we managed to get antibiotics and she slowly made a recovery.
The last two weeks of December were the school holidays and I also had time off work. I was so excited and had a lot of things planned but did any happen? Nope! First week, Miss A became unwell and the next week I did.
As I write this, I am still unwell on day 22 I think? I’ve been unwell since Boxing Day, with no signs of getting better quickly. My Doctor reckons I’ve caught a bad strain of Influenza which is going to take time to get over. I had Covid last year and hand on heart it wasn’t as bad as this.
This ‘Influenza’ has honestly wiped me out and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Nevertheless, I have forced myself to write this post to not only get myself back into blogging but also encourage myself to look at the positives that had happened during the last two months of the year.
So here goes…
November:
WIMPOLE ESTATE

The National Trust were giving away free vouchers in early autumn which we took advantage of in November. We visited Wimpole Estate in Cambridgeshire. It turned out to be such a lovely day. Wimpole Estate had a lot to offer, from a farm which was instantly a hit with Miss A, lots of grounds to explore and the stately home. It was such a great excuse to get out in the fresh air and we also got my Mum to come which made it extra special.
CANARY WHARF

My brother had some work at his office on a Saturday so myself and Miss A decided to join him too. Miss A loves going on the train so that in itself was an adventure for her. Whilst my brother got on with his work Miss A and I ended up exploring Crossrail Place, a botanical garden right in the middle of the city! And even better, absolutely free!
December:
WINTER/XMAS MARKETS

In the beginning of December we took a trip down to London Bridge City’s and the South Bank Winter Markets. It was really lovely seeing the festivities and all of the beautiful lights. We didn’t stay long at London Bridge’s Xmas by the River because it was heaving, being a Saturday night, but spent some good time at the South Bank. Miss A enjoyed going on the Carousel but was dissatisfied with how quick it went of course!
South Bank PR event

I attended my very first PR event! I couldn’t believe when I first received the invitation from the South Bank Centre to come and check out their Winter Lights exhibition but it was real! It wasn’t my first invite but the first I actually went too as I’d usually end up declining. This is because it would feel out of my comfort zone but I’m glad I said yes because I really had a lovely time!
The South Bank always has something going for both adults and children so if you’re ever in London, I definitely recommend checking it out!
BIRTHDAY WITH FRIENDS

Yes! Two months later, I was still celebrating turning 30. It’s basically adult life for you eh. I really enjoyed catching up and seeing my friends. We may not meet up as often but it doesn’t feel like that. We met in secondary school and these are the bunch who’ve stuck with me through ups and downs and I’ll forever be grateful for having them in my life.
We ended up going to the EL&N Cafe in Knightsbridge which was the perfect setting for my ‘birthday’ considering how pink it was!
WORK XMAS PARTY

Despite it being my day off, I ventured along to our work’s Xmas do. It was really nice seeing everyone in person after a long time and we had great laughs. The coach journey there was more entertaining with all the laughter and singing. Although it took much deliberation, I’m glad I went in the end.
XMAS LIGHTS

Pretty much the only thing we got up to in the holidays. The Xmas holidays were sponsored by germs and we only found one day, Xmas day, well enough to finally go out and see all the pretty lights.
I thought it would be nice and quiet but looks like the rest of London had the same idea because not only there was traffic on the road but a lot of people traffic too!
Nevertheless, Miss A and I had a great time.

So that’s it!
How was your end of 2022? Hopefully not filled with germs?
