I have been through the biggest reading slump, not reading a book for over two months! So unlike me, considering I whizzed through ten books in January. However, I am glad that I got most of my reading done back then because I knew there would be a time I will fall into a slump.
Thankfully, due to my reading sprints earlier on in the year, it’s meant that I haven’t fallen behind for my Reading Challenge 2022.
Nevertheless, I finally got back into the swing of reading in June and enjoyed it. One of the books was That Bookish Club’s May pick and the other two I chose short reads by two of my favourite authors.
I haven’t read short reads before but I highly recommend especially when you’re trying to get out of a slump.
So without further ado, let’s see what I read!
BOOK LOVERS

One month. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn’t see coming….
Nora is a cut-throat literary agent at the top of her game. Her whole life is books.
Charlie is an editor with a gift for creating best sellers. And he’s Nora’s work nemesis.
Nora has been through enough break-ups to know she’s the woman men date before they find their happy-ever-after. That’s why Nora’s sister has persuaded her to swap her desk in the city for a month’s holiday in Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. It’s a small town straight out of a romance novel, but instead of meeting sexy lumberjacks, handsome doctors or cute bartenders, Nora keeps bumping into…Charlie.
She’s no heroine. He’s no hero. So can they take a page out of an entirely different book?
My Rating: 4/5
My Thoughts: The only reason I knocked off a star was because I found it hard to get into at first.
However, once the story properly kicked off, there was no going back. I really enjoyed it, it was a light and fun read, keeping you on your toes and rooting for the main characters.
THE DONOR

She gave you everything. But what does she want in return?
When Lizzie’s daughter, Meg, is given a life-saving heart transplant, Lizzie feels hugely grateful to the nameless donor. Then, she receives a letter from the donor’s mother, Karen, asking to meet, and it seems like the least she can do.
But as soon as Karen is welcomed into their lives, Lizzie feels something isn’t right. And before long, she can’t help but worry that by inviting Karen in, she might have put Meg in danger….
My Rating: 5/5
My thoughts: Clare Mackintosh never fails to impress! This was a short read, I finished it in one sitting. It was kind of predictable, as you could tell what Karen’s intentions were but I did not see its twist coming. It really kept me on my toes, highly recommend!
BLINDSPOT

How can you say things like this? How can you be so blind?
Since they were kids, Edie, Jake and Ryan have been the closest of friends. It’s been the three of them against the world. Edie thought the bonds between them were unbreakable. So when Jake is brutally murdered and Ryan accused of the crime, her world is shattered.
Edie is alone for the first time in years, living in the remote house that she and Jake shared. She is grief-stricken and afraid—with good reason. Because someone is watching. Someone has been waiting for this moment. Now that Edie is alone the past she tried so hard to leave behind is about to catch up with her…
My Rating: 5/5
My thoughts: Another must read short read that you can devour in one sitting. I love a thriller that keeps me guessing. From the very first chapter, I didn’t want to put it down and kept trying to guess where this was going. It was unpredictable which I liked best. I actually enjoyed this more than the famous The Girl on the Train.

Book Lovers has been on my TBR pile for some time now. I haven’t heard of Blind Spot but it sounds sooo good! I’ll have to add that one too.
These two books sound great and I loved reading your review of them both! x

Great insights. The Donor sounds my kind of story.
