March started off really well. The weather in the U.K. became exceptionally extraordinary for the month of March leading to lovely days, albeit it now feels like we are back in Winter.
However, the end of March wasn’t what we had expected. As I write this post, I am in bed, isolating in my bedroom. After running away from it for 2 years, COVID19, finally dug its sharp claws into me.
I cannot for the life of me think of where on earth I may have gotten it from. Everyone I met in the past couple of days is negative. But here we are… I won’t indulge into it more as this is meant to be a positive post, no pun intended. So, let’s see what were the five things that I loved about March.
WORLD BOOK DAY

The first Thursday of March is always my favourite because it is World Book Day. I am a bookworm through and through and loved going to school dressed up as my favourite characters as a child. So you can bet my excitement when now it was my daughter’s turn to do the same!
It wasn’t plain sailing though, we had numerous changes of mind, as to who she wanted to go as but finally settled on Lily Bobtail from Peter Rabbit (yes, I know she isn’t part of the books but I’m not arguing with a 5 year old).
LEGO DAYS

One of the presents I got for A for her 5th birthday was Lego classic. We’ve turned one of our weekend days into Lego making days and we love it! Albeit, she needs more practise but it is so peaceful and therapeutic to spend some quiet time making figures. Bar the moments of not being able to find a miniature essential piece!
LIBRARY VISITS

We have a library just down the road from us that I use to go to every week as a child. When Miss A was a baby we use to attend baby rhyme and time classes there too. However, sadly I think life got in the way and the library never crossed our minds.
This month, I got our library cards replaced and we began visiting again. First thing on Saturday mornings, a lovely peaceful atmosphere and such a great way to introduce to her that you can return books no matter how much you love them. Although, that did take a lot of convincing!
MOTHERS DAY

Mothers Day is always celebrated in March in the U.K. compared to rest of the world. This year it fell on the last Sunday of the month.
I am loving these special occasions more and more now because of the understanding Miss A now has of them.
Whilst, I was wrapping my mother’s present, she ran downstairs to my brother in a panic that she hadn’t gotten me anything. Luckily, as always, my brothers had already sorted out my presents and card from her.
We had a lovely get together at Miss A’s Aunty house and didn’t get any pictures at all. That really is surprising isn’t it?
KNITTED GALORE

A’s Aunty has started knitting, making dresses, toys and hats for her. One of the items I’ve personally really liked is this hat. Miss A always has trouble with wearing hats as her ponytail gets in the way. But look what a genius idea this ended up becoming! No more ‘it doesn’t fit me!’ Or ‘my ears aren’t covered!’

So, please share with me what was that one thing you enjoyed about March?

First off….are you selling those knitted hats with the ponytail hole?? They are super cute and cover the ears!
What I liked most about March was spending time in nature with the kids. One of our trees blooms once a year (for a week) and we got to enjoy it. The kids spent time climbing other trees and going on nature walks.

It sounds like you had a lovely month – bar from covid at the end, that is (I hope you’re not feeling too bad!) I love World Book Day so much and lego making days sound like so much fun! It’s super sweet that A’s brother sorted out presents and cards for her for mother’s day too. Thanks for sharing x
