I’ve got my jumpers at the ready and the heating has officially made an appearance which well and truly means that Autumn and of course October have definitely arrived! September has honestly been a month of changes for us, there have been smiles, there have been tears but all part and parcel of stepping into new territory but we are getting there!
So what are the five things that I loved last month?
Starting School
My little baby who happens to no longer be a baby started full time school. Aazeen stepped into her Reception class for the first time on September 1st. Coincidentally, the exact same classroom that I started in 1997 – making it all the more special for us.
She was excited but just before she entered the gates, she turned around and said, ‘I’m shy,’ but saw some of her friends from nursery and walked inside. I peeked through the windows and saw her standing in the middle of the classroom, taking it all in, from figuring out where to put her water bottle to finding her name on a peg, it really hit me how much of a big change our children go through every year.
We opted for school dinners and in the beginning, her teachers reported she didn’t eat much but slowly has now gained confidence and has become more and more comfortable.
Drop offs have been a hit and miss but as soon as she enters the classroom she is her happy self and the teachers are happy. One of the reasons why drop offs have sometimes been difficult as she has had another change to get grips of which brings me onto the second thing I loved about September.
Back to the Office

If you had read my post about my work from home experience, you would know that I was going to ask to still have the option of working from home when need be if I was asked back in the office.
Well, that moment well and truly came! After a few discussions, we came to an agreement that when need be for example, my Mum is not well enough to do the school run, I can work from home rather than waste my annual leave.
Due to the number of restrictions on how many people can be at the office at one time, I still get to work one day from home which I have found to be a good balance.
How have I found being back?
Well, after 17 months of the work from home life, I surprisingly love being back! I love being around others, it has honestly helped me to gain my confidence back.
Just getting back into a proper routine, I feel is already starting to make a huge difference. Aazeen has had a hard time accepting this as she knows that I am leaving for work straight after dropping her off and that she won’t find me when she comes home but, fingers crossed, we are getting there!
Got my Booster, baby!

I honestly could not be more happier about this, I want to stand on my rooftop and scream it out loud!
I received my first dose of the covid Pfizer vaccine at work (NHS) in December 2020 during the Phase 1 rollout of the vaccine in the U.K. Some of my colleagues received the second doses after the recommended 21 days whereas I missed it by one day and received mine in March 2021 under the new 12 week guidelines.
One day in September, I received a text from the NHS stating that as I am at an increased risk of complications from COVID-19, I am eligible for the booster jab. At first instance, I thought this was a scam and messaged my colleagues and realised it wasn’t as they had all received the same message.
We reckon this was due to the 6+ month gap from the second dose. Nevertheless, I got booking and received the Pfizer jab the following morning. The only side effect I experienced was a sore arm and feeling lazy the next day which meant a much deserved sofa day!
September Shopping

Probably one of the most simplest things to date but I find quite important for me. Ever since the pandemic began and the numerous lockdowns, I have been on hibernation mode. It’s not like I don’t go out, of course I do but only for what I feel is essential.
Online shopping has become my best friend but the past month or so, I have finally started to venture out to shop for leisure and it feels good! You will still find me wearing a mask outside, yes I know some people will find it baffling but it’s what makes me comfortable and that’s all that matters, right?
VE GAN Aloe Vera Juice

Honestly speaking, I am the most laziest person ever when it comes to skin care. I just wake up in the morning, wash my face, apply moisturiser and off I go!
But for a while I have been using this body juice regularly (when I remember that is) and shockingly it has actually made a difference! My skin is doing much better, I have awful dry skin but using this has made a world of a difference.
I am not surprised though because it’s aloe vera which is meant to be so good for your skin.
This just goes to show that when you do take time out for yourself it does make a difference. I need to start doing this regularly, I really need to start taking a leaf out of my Mum’s book. She spends a good half an hour pampering herself and doing her skincare routine before bed.
Maybe that should be my goal for October?
Now it is your turn!

Ahh so much positivity for you in September, I love it! It’s great that going back into the office is working out better than you thought it would as well. I’m not really sure what my highlight is – I got my reading buzz back, does that count? September has felt all a bit of a blur to be honest.
Yes that definitely does! It always feels great to get back into reading!
Sounds like September was a win for you! I also started back in the office, only 2 days a week so it works fine and nice to see colleagues those days.
I think my favourite thin about September is that here in Dubai the weather starts to get cooler and we can go out and about again 😊
Yes I agree it’s great to see colleagues again and feel some normality! Hope you’re enjoying the cooler weather!
absolutely love this post! My favourite things from September is defiantly seeing my family down in Somerset! x
Nothing can beat seeing family, right? Especially with the year and a half we’ve all had!
Nice to see students going back to school again in your country. Glad that you had a great September. 🙂 It was nice to visit your blog. x
Thank you for reading x
Yay for your booster! I’ve just had my first vaccine finally – just laying low for second now xx
Congratulations on your first dose! It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? 🙂
Hello! This is such a good post. That is so good that you got your booster shot! I am still waiting for my second shot but excited to get it! Alicia
Hope you get it soon! 🙂
Yay, you’ve had your booster! I can’t wait for mine – could you ever imagine saying before covid? Sounds like you had some lovely September moments xx
I know right? Who would get so excited about vaccinations and needles before all of this!
It sounds like you had a lovely month. Its great that your workplace is flexible to fit around your needs. September just flew by for me but I did enjoy some lovely walks.
Can’t go wrong with walks so refreshing 😉
It’s weird how booster shots are being given when there’s still people who aren’t double vaccinated in the UK. Still, needs to be done
Yes isn’t it! Depends how long it’s been since your second dose x
It sounds like you had a lot of positive things happen in September. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you for stopping by x
Wow it’s amazing that you and your little one are going to the same school, that must be a lovely, nostalgic feeling. Thanks for sharing x
Yes that’s exactly how I feel! She was so surprised when I told her!
Great post and so much positivity, I love this. I am working from home indefinitely (permanently?) now because I changed jobs in the pandemic.
My favourite thing about September was my city reopening (we had a really long lockdown), and being able to go out and do things with my friends. I moved cities in 2020 and so I hadn’t met many people here, but I got to meet people in August/September and it was just so lovely to meet all my Zoom colleagues in-person. It was so re-energizing after being in my apartment for so long!
Also – I just want to say that your writing is beautiful!
I definitely agree it feels so good to see people in person rather than over zoom, so much easier to connect! Which city are you from? And thank you so much!
