The Writers Job Newsletter Review

27 September 2021

AD – although this is an adversary post, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Freelancing  is becoming popular day by day, – especially during current COVID times. The pandemic has changed so many of our lives in particular surrounding our working lives. Sudden job losses and the new work from home life has meant people are now finding effective ways of looking for flexible work that works around them.

People have realised that there is more to the ‘working world’ than just the typical 9 to 5 jobs. From a parents perspective, being able to have work that suits you and your children’s routines is always a bonus.

But it is not just that, many of us blog too! Some as a hobby and others started out as a hobby but have turned into full or part time jobs. Contrary to some people’s belief, blogging is a career that requires so much dedication and hard work. It is a one man band, the writer, the photographer, the accountant as well as the technical expert (I am still getting my head around the technical side of blogging!).

So, having to look for work at the same time can become a bit of a chore! It has never been  easy finding a piece of work that is best suitable for you. Sometimes, you think you have found something but in the end it turns out a brand isn’t willing to pay you for your hard work. However, now The Writers Job Newsletter comes in to help.

What is The Writers Job Newsletter?

TWJN was launched this year and is run by fellow writers with the purpose of helping others find good writing jobs. It is a  newsletter which is free to sign up and every week on a Sunday, you receive an email with countless number of opportunities.

A few examples of jobs included:

(£200) Catriona is looking for pitches for Black History Month

(£250-£350) Adrianne is looking for real-life stories about women 50+ who have transformed their lives.

Soar are looking for a mid-level full-time content strategist. They are looking for someone who can achieve their vision of making a content marketing service that can reliably deliver competitive, revenue-driving content at an affordable cost to our clients.

.

You get so many options other than fully remote jobs there are also:-

• Writing competitions – who doesn’t like a bit of competitiveness with a prize at the end, eh?

• Social media call outs

• Challenges and workshops to help you improve.

Whether you write full time, part time or as a side gig, there is literally something for everyone.

Personal Thoughts…

Writing is my passion and I would love to pursue it further but have never known where to start.

Having cut down my hours at my day job has meant that I have more time especially with Aazeen at school now. Therefore, I want to spend that time to help myself develop and perhaps it may, one day, become the means of me being able to spend more and more time with my daughter.

I have now been signed up to the The Writers Job Newsletter for a month now and I do not think I would have come across so many opportunities in such a short space of time if I wasn’t. I love that it is split into different sections so it is easy to navigate and especially that it includes what rates, if applicable, brands are willing to accept so evidently you don’t end up wasting your time.

Personally, I find looking for writing opportunities quite overwhelming and daunting but receiving everything in one place takes that little bit of stress away. I have yet to pursue a job advertised but I have my eye on a couple – I just need to stop being so lazy when putting myself out there!

For whatever reason you are writing, I would highly recommend signing up to The Writers Job Newsletter because you never know what may catch your eye and help turn your passion into a much loved career.

I’d like to thank Della and her team at TWJN for not only helping us to aim higher but also giving me this opportunity to do this review!

I like reading the adverts and one day want to get into one of the writing jobs. Just have to find the right fit for me as a nervous, new wannabe freelancer.

I would assume the best way to start is by looking for a job that can earn you money to let you keep going.
