I have to admit, one of the reasons why I was so excited to
become a mother was so I could do things like these for my children. A
dedicated basket for Ramadan that include items which will help A to learn
about Ramadan as well as God and religion overall.
So what have I included?
Prayer Mat
This isn’t a new prayer mat but I decided to include it as
one of the things that people focus on during Ramadan is their prayer and
connection to God. At the moment, whenever I pray, A tries to join in and even
copy some of the actions (albeit sometimes climbing on top of me!) but
nevertheless including the prayer mat will help her realise that it’s a part of
Ramadan too.

A book focussed on Ramadan about a young girl who wants to
learn more about Ramadan.

I got these fabulous Mosque, Lantern, Crescent Star shaped
cookie cutters from EidParty.com. One of the main things I would like to
involve my daughter in is baking and helping out with Iftaar (sunset meal). She
is already so keen on helping out in the kitchen so actively involving her
would be such a treat for her.

The following items I purchased from Anafiya Gifts.
This plate set has a reminder for children asking if they’ve
said their Bismillah and Alhamdulillah. Bismillah (In the name of God…) is what
you say before you eat or do anything and Alhamdullilah (thank God) when you
finish to thank God for the food you have been given or for anything and
everything! Although, A cannot read at the moment, I do feel like that it’s
more of reminder for me at meal times to remind her.

I have had my eyes on this book for a long time and I think
it’s the most perfect way to introduce your child to God and help them develop
that relationship. What I love about this book that each letter of the alphabet
represents one of the 99 names of God, the meanings explained in a rhyme. So
not only will your child be learning their alphabet but also learning about the
attributes, a perfect way to build trust and form that special relationship.

Another beautiful book perfect for toddlers to teach them
about Jannah (Heaven) this book takes you on an adventure with a little boy
called Zayd and his Mother on their journey of learning and remembrance.

A Ramadan Basket cannot be complete without a colouring
book! However, this isn’t just your ordinary colouring book – the best thing
about this is your child not only has fun but also learns about different
colours too and things that are of that colour for example, one page says ‘Allah
made things red, colour things that are red’.

Freshtah from Dear Muslim Child, has created a free Ramadan
package for children, it is amazing how much she has included. Your child will
be learning through puzzles, games and activities that include the alphabet, numbers
and colours – absolutely perfect for toddlers. I do think you can use this
package all throughout the year.
